Dear colleagues,

the first of December is approaching and i would like to provide you with more information on the gDFTB workshop which will take place at the Bremen Center for Computational Materials Science. This informal meeting is intended to bring together  scientists that are using and developing the gDFTB code for quantum transport calculations. This event within the DFG-SPP-1243 "Quantum Transport at the Molecular Scale" (www.quantrans.org) is at the same time the first of a series of workshops for members of research institutes in and around Bremen who are interested in Computational Materials Science. Some of the talks will focus on applications, so that also participants with a more general interest in molecular conduction are highly welcome.

Please find the schedule of the meeting following the link. All talks should have a length of 20 minutes (apart from our external speaker G-H Chen), allowing for 10 minutes of discussion. The program is quite dense and unfortunately we do not have the facilities for a fast switch of notebooks. Hence, we would like to ask you to send us your talks (PDF or Powerpoint format) in advance. Later, they will be placed on our www.quantrans.org page. Alternatively, you can put your talk on an USB-stick.

How to reach us:
The meeting is located in room N 3380 (Didaktiklabor), on the third floor, north wing, of building NW1 (Otto-Hahn-Allee 1) on the campus of the University Bremen. The location of  NW1 is depicted on this map:

The university itself can be reached:
by car:
Coming from autobahn A1, change at the "Bremer Kreuz" to A27 direction "Bremen-Bremerhaven". Leave the A27 at exit "Universität / Horn-Lehe" and drive direction "Centrum / Universität". There are parking lots available at the NW1 building. See also this map:

by train:
Leave Bremen central station in south direction ("Stadtmitte"). Cabs and tram leave directly from the forecourt. Taking a cab to the university costs about 10 Euro. It is cheaper to go by tram. Take line 6, direction "Universität" and step off at stop "Universität NW1".
by plane:
Taking a cab to the university costs about 18 Euro. Alternatively, tram line 6 takes you directly to the building NW1, simply step off at stop "Universität NW1".
There will be an informal get-together on the evening before the meeting at 20:00 in the "Haus am Walde" (http://www.hausamwalde-bremen.de/anfahrt.asp) in walking distance from both university and Atlantic hotel.

Participants who arrive early on the 30th of November are invited to attend the talk "New paradigms in the simulation of electronic devices" by  Prof. di Carlo  on the occasion of the Physics department colloquium at 15:15 in room H3, ground floor of building NW1.
